High blood pressure is a major cause of heart disease. Blood pressure is the force of the blood pushing against the artery walls as blood is pumped to all the organs of the body. If the arteries around the heart are narrowed or blocked, the heart has to work harder to get the blood flowing where it needs to go. There may be organ damage if the blood flow is restricted in any way.

This includes the blood supply to the penis or other genital areas. The lack of a sufficient blood flow can lead to erectile dysfunction, and arousal problems in both men and women.
