• Surgery
  If there is any nerve damage during surgery that causes sexual dysfunction, the recovery period can stretch into weeks and months. However, although anything can happen, with a competent surgeon doing the operation, the risk of nerve damage is low.
• Hormonal treatment
  Because prostate cancer feeds on testosterone, men are usually given the female hormone estrogen, to lower the levels of testosterone in the body. This often leads to disturbing side effects like hot flushes, and may have a negative effect on your sex drive.
